A three day cultural fest ‘COBALT SKIES’ was organized by BMC on the 22nd,23rd and 24th of October’09.
In keeping with the true Johnite spirit we were all eager to participate and put our best foot forward! Since the seniors were busy with exams,batches ‘08 and ‘09 teamed up and took part in most events.
All of us…the juniors of ‘09 were eager to take part in our very first inter collegiate cultural fest as Johnites…! It was a perfect opportunity for us not only to display our talents but to unearth some as well.
"Aagnya"
Encouraged by the accolades we received after the performance at ‘FAREWELL’,our dance team ‘AAGNYA’ participated in the Theme Dance event and depicted Indian Mythology.We competed against 8 other colleges,PESIT being our toughest competitors.However a bit of last minute improvisation and extra hours of practice(not to mention extra members…still don’t know how 14 of us managed to sync!)
seemed to pay off as we bagged the 1st place!winning a cash prize of 5k.We were exuberant!…more because our seniors told us their “baby juniors” had done them proud!
Students of ‘09 took part in other events too…Quiz,Personality,Jam,Western electric…The fest gave us good exposure and we gained a lot of insight.It was fun working with the seniors of ‘08 and getting to know them better.
We are really grateful to our seniors(especially the committee members) who despite their exams always kept themselves informed about the on goings.They were a constant source of help and encouragement…egged us on to go for a win…and of course..to have the time of our lives!(you bet we did!)
All in all it was an amazing first experience and all of us are avidly anticipating more fun times ahead!

well wat is heartning to see is dat finally there is a theme dance team and that too a competent one . murtuza and dhanpal wud agree wid me dat after the void left by swayam , losing 50-100 points in saingle event ws prving costly. the most hurtful 1 ws jnc where v lost the overall by 5 points. gr8 job batch of 2009. wat is important is to keep the spirit up and not let it falg dwn. usually 1st yr nd fr the first few fests der is a lot of exuberance. bt den the stress nd nature of medical lyf may flag u dwn. remember as long as the event is not on the day of ur xam, mke sure dat u attnd it cum wat may
a bit of reminscing abt lst yrs cobalt skies wich ws held under rainy skies. the tone was set by murtu nd mads team of 05 by winning ice brkr nd mad ads 3 hrs b4 dey lft fr goa fr der btch trip. it felt gud to come 2nd in dbte wich ws fr 3 hours in parlimentary style and ws mre lyk extempore fr me.thnks to sheldon fr giving points on the spot fr prelims nd jino fr msgng the points fr final.
i perrsnly njoid jam wich lsated fr 2 hours by the end of wich my heart rate ws at 165 and als aircrash sa maria shrpova nd mck pres as srk.. i hv to thank dr.paul who cme nd encouraged me not to give up till the end in jam as it ws mentally very tiring.thnkfully not in vain as i did cum 2nd in all 3evnts.
it ws a privlege to watch the dance of my batch who won fr the 1st tym otsde 3rd plce nd missd 2nd by 1 point due to costumes. the fest finishd at 10 pm.and als a sweep of pictionary by the machi gals nd sheldn ryan jeff. irony of fate in one of their last perfrmces rockd the stge in the pouring rain
the only sore point ws that the cash prize trnd ot 2 b far less nd mstly included passess 2 der very own dj nite. bt winning the overalls ws indeed sumting to be proud of.
all i can say is that there are exciting times ahead with lot of talent in johns. nd i m sure the current committe nd my batch committe shd mke ful use of it nd keep da flag of jhns flyng high in the odr colegs.
@ batch of 2009: tho aagnya means odrd, it wud btr if u ppl cn post the origin of ur name who sugstd it nd wat the reason was. gr8 job agn. kp da gud wrkn gng. nd v stl r waiting fr the treat.
